The house is named after Helena Cronsioe, who lived here before and after the turn of the 18th century. It was built as a country residence for the wholesale dealer Edvard Engeström, and was finished just in time for his daughter’s marriage in the year 1877 (Source: Malmö Society of Antiquities’ annual publication, 1945). However, on the weather vane the year 1872 is given.
As early as 1924, the first restaurant business was opened – Heleneholm Slott’s Café. At the same time, the restaurant-owner composed the building’s own waltz. In 1932 the property was acquired by the city of Malmö, and in the 30s and 40s it achieved notability as a restaurant, as well as a place for dancing in the summer. Dances were held around the large tree where the present parking area is situated. At some time during the 50s, the business began to specialise in private parties.
The present owner has been at Heleneholm Slott since 1992. Today, it is one of the oldest restaurants in the town, as is evident from the interior and exterior of the building, which are both well preserved.
We are a modern restaurant business, ready and willing to organize a wide variety of festive occasions.
